Position Overview

NorthRise Counseling is seeking an independently licensed therapist to join our growing clinician-owned practice. This role is ideal for experienced clinicians who value autonomy, flexibility, meaningful clinical work, and a collaborative but non-corporate environment.

The independently licensed therapist is responsible for providing outpatient mental health therapy services to individuals, couples, and/or families while maintaining ethical, professional, and documentation standards consistent with Minnesota practice regulations and insurance requirements.

This position allows clinicians to maintain substantial control over their schedule, clinical approach, and caseload while receiving administrative and operational support from NorthRise Counseling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide outpatient psychotherapy services to clients using evidence-based and clinically appropriate interventions
Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
Maintain ethical and professional standards in accordance with licensing board requirements and HIPAA regulations
Develop and maintain a caseload consistent with the clinician’s availability and professional goals
Maintain active licensure and professional liability insurance
Participate in consultation and collaboration as needed
Communicate professionally with clients, referral sources, and team members
Utilize electronic health record systems and telehealth platforms appropriately
Maintain compliance with payer requirements and documentation expectations
Manage scheduling and client communication in coordination with practice systems
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Independent clinical licensure in Minnesota, including one of the following:
LMFT
LPCC
LICSW
Licensed Psychologist
Other independently licensed behavioral health professional recognized in Minnesota
Ability to practice independently without supervision
Master’s or doctoral degree in a behavioral health field
Strong clinical judgment and ethical decision-making skills
Professional liability insurance
Ability to work independently and manage a self-directed caseload
Competency with electronic documentation and telehealth services
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, family systems, or relationship issues
Experience providing couples or family therapy
Telehealth experience
Established referral relationships or niche specialty areas
Insurance credentialing experience

Qualifications We’re Looking For


We are seeking clinicians who are:

  • Fully independently licensed in Minnesota (LMFT, LPCC, LICSW, Psychologist, or equivalent)

  • Able to practice independently without supervision

  • Ethical, relational, and grounded in their clinical work

  • Comfortable working autonomously while still valuing collegial connection

  • Interested in building and maintaining a consistent outpatient caseload

  • Strong communicators who value professionalism and authenticity

  • Experience working with trauma, substance use, relationships, anxiety, depression, or family systems is welcomed

Preferred but not required:

  • Existing insurance credentialing

  • Telehealth experience

  • Experience with couples or family therapy

  • Specialized populations or niche clinical interests
